Hi folks,
I am a South African based in Freiburg and my German girlfriend and I have just launched a service, that will be of interest to the Franglo community. It's a podcast, that teaches "the real German lingo" and it's aimed primarily at English native speakers. I've attached our press release below and use this link to see what the Badische Zeitung has written about us: http://pukkagerman.com/press/index.html
=========================
* Increase your German fluency
* Learn the real language of native Germans
* Get expressive with idioms and proverbs
* Integrate with colloquialisms
* Have a laugh with German slang
* Let out the German in you!
Announcing the launch of Pukka German, a free 'German for English speakers' podcast, to help German learners speak the real German lingo! Pukka German breaks away from dry text book German and focuses on teaching the colourful social German spoken by German natives. Each week the hosts discuss a new topic and compare German idioms, colloquial language and slang with their English equivalents. The primary goal being to help German learners add spice to their language and get more enjoyment from speaking German.
This is a unique service not only in the content that it covers, but also in its teaching approach. The podcasts are a 50:50 mix of English and German and are presented by an English native speaker, Tyler Duncan and his German girlfriend, Lisa Ernst. The show is inspired by Tyler's efforts to integrate into life in Freiburg, Germany and to learn the "cool" language of German natives in the student town. Cultural insights are also discussed from the hosts' personal experiences and perspectives.
Pukka German also provides online activities, transcripts and extras at their website: http://www.pukkagerman.com. For a small fee, weekly online quizzes and show transcripts are available. This material reinforces and builds on the material covered in the podcasts.
The podcasts are published weekly and are roughly 10 minutes long. Themes covered are as diverse as life itself. Some upcoming topics include: money, dating, family, work and alcohol.
The Podcasts are distributed automatically as an RSS feed to which users can subscribe for free via iTunes: http://www.itunes.com/podcast?id=276460677 (or any other RSS reader) or choose to receive fresh content direct to their email inbox. It is also possible to download the audio files directly from the Pukka German website.
=======================
We're looking forward to welcoming you folks on the site!
